About Christina

Christina Blake, Miss Northern Virginia Volunteer

It all begins with an idea.

A graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, I was fortunate enough to have exposure to the areas of STEM at a young age. In my junior year of high school, I founded Wise Up to Rise Up in hopes of sharing my knowledge and love for STEM with students in my county. The program quickly gained traction in the Northern Virginia area, and I began plans to expand my reach—and my virtual program was born! Wise Up to Rise Up’s mission is to fight inequity in education at all levels.

I graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a Bachelor’s in Political Science and a minor in Aerospace Studies. My senior thesis focused on inequity in education and how crucial it is to foster a love of learning and provide adequate educational resouces from an early age.

My love of STEM and desire to help people is what propels my efforts, but it was pageantry that gave me the platform to reach more people.

Outside of pageants and volunteer work, I work full-time as an active duty member of the U.S. Air Force and I model. I also used to work in the fashion industry as a consultant at That’s My Dress in Fredericksburg, VA where I helped pageant girls find their dream wardrobes and helped brides find the perfect dress for their special day.
