Dancing Sprinkles
This activity is ideal for elementary and middle school students!
This activity is a great way to introduce or familiarize your student with sound waves! Normally, we only hear sound waves, but they still create vibrations and can travel through air, water, or solids. The vibrations of the sound waves from the speaker will cause your sprinkles to "dance" over top!
Materials:
* Ziploc® brand sandwich bag
* wireless speaker
* bowl or vase, large enough to fit speaker
* plastic wrap
* device (phone or laptop) connected wirelessly to fit the speaker
* Sprinkles
Directions: After gathering your materials, place the speaker in the bowl and turn it on.
Place the plastic wrap as flat and tight as possible over the top of the bowl.
Pour some sprinkles into your Ziploc bag, making sure to leave a little bit of air so the sprinkles can "dance."
Place your bag on top of the plastic wrap covering the bowl.
Using your device, play different songs and sounds and watch your sprinkles "dance" along!
