Magic Marker Experiment

This activity is ideal for elementary and middle school students!

This activity is a fun way to learn about what different colors mix together to make! Depending on the markers used, you may see the separation of dyes, and a black washable marker will reveal it's made up of a whole bunch of colors!

Materials:

* paper towels

* washable markers

* water cups

Directions: Gather your materials, then cut the paper towels into approximately 1 inch strips.

At the bottom of each strip, approximately 1 inch from the end, draw a line across the strip.

Add water to each cup.

Carefully place each strip into the cups, the end of the paper towel near the line should just barely be in the water.

Watch what happens to the colors as the water soaks into the paper towel!

EXTRA CHALLENGE: Try this experiment with a variety of colors or types of markers!
